Carrera is one of the largest and most popular frame manufacturers of all time. A sports optics company founded by Wilhelm Anger in 1956, Carrera was named after the legendary Carrera Pan-American sports car race. A large part of Carrera’s popularity is attributed to their plastic frames, which originated from Anger’s work in 1946 for a small plastics company that was in the early stages of producing glasses from this material.
